Louisville football coach Jeff Brohm and his Cardinals earned a signature win this past weekend by defeating SMU, and one college football analyst is heaping praise on the UL coach.
Days after Lousville beat the then 16th-ranked Mustangs 41-31, 247Sports’ Chris Hummer raved about the job Brohm has done, particularly in tailoring his offensive scheme to Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz.
“It is remarkable how much Jeff Brohm’s changed his offense to fit his new quarterback,” Hummer said. “Louisville’s last three quarterbacks — Jack Plummer, Tyler Shough, and Miller Moss — combined for -12 rushing yards the last three seasons. Kienholz is already over 150 yards for the year, and he has four rushing touchdowns. So he is one of the most dynamic and surprising rushing threats of the year. And you have to give Jeff Brohm credit for how he’s employed his new kind of offensive weapon.”

Kienholz spent the first three seasons of his college career at Ohio State, where he played just 12 games across three seasons while sitting behind the likes of Kyle McCord, Will Howard, and Julian Sayin. Since transferring to Louisville and earning the starting job, though, Kienholz has proven to be highly effective and versatile.
Through three games, Kienholz has completed 66% of his passes and thrown for 816 yards, six touchdowns, and no interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 153 yards and four scores, which has only further supercharged the Cardinals’ offense. To this point in the season, Louisville ranks 12th in the nation in points per game (46.0) and yards per game (515.3).
Sporting a 2-1 record despite being one of the only power-conference teams to play a pair of top-25 opponents already, No. 16 Louisville hosts Wake Forest this weekend before going on the road next Saturday to play at NC State.
