After a strong performance against the Eastern Washington Eagles, Washington Huskies quarterback Demond Williams Jr. was named one of the Manning Award's eight stars of the week.

The third-year signal caller had his best game of the young season against the FCS opponent, completing 82 percent of his passes for 373 yards and 4 touchdowns, although he also threw his first interception of the season in the second quarter on a play where an unblocked blitzer hit Williams' elbow and forced an errant throw on what could have gone down as his fifth touchdown of the day.

Through three games, Williams ranks No. 13 in the nation in passing yards with 890 and has impressed Jedd Fisch, even though his head coach believes he still has a lot of room to grow.

"I don’t think we forced many things down the field," Fisch said of Williams' performance and the game plan against Eastern Washington, which included a lot of screen plays. "There were a couple opportunities that we probably could have taken some shots, and we didn’t, and there were a lot of times that I felt like Demond made some really good decisions on run-pass options.”

With injuries to running backs Jayden Limar and Quaid Carr, Williams has also been Washington's biggest threat on the ground so far this season, with 150 yards and a score on the ground, 33 of which came against the Eagles.

Joining Williams on the list for the week were TCU's Jaden Craig, Ole Miss's Trinidad Chambliss, Wisconsin's Colton Joseph, California's Jaron Keawe-Sagapolutele, Miami's Darian Mensah, Kentucky's Kenny Minchey, and Toledo's John Alan Richter.
