ESPN Has Telling Response To Question About President Trump Appearing On 'College GameDay'

The President of the United States will be in attendance at Saturday’s game between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee in Knoxville.

Clay Travis reported and the New York Times has confirmed that the President of the United States will attend the major SEC showdown on Saturday afternoon. Texas and Tennessee are scheduled to kick off at 12 p.m. E.T.

“President Donald Trump is planning to attend this Saturday’s marquee game between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., the White House Press Office confirmed to The Athletic,” the outlet confirmed.

“The visit will place Trump at the center of one of the biggest games of the college football season, with the Longhorns and Volunteers both 3-0 entering their SEC opener, which kicks off at noon ET. ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ will also be in Knoxville, with the final hour of Saturday’s show originating from inside Neyland Stadium before kickoff.”

But will the President of the United States appear on ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday morning?

ESPN just had U.S. Senator Ted Cruz on the show two weeks ago, when Texas hosted Ohio State in Austin.

Many could see ESPN letting the President of the United States serving as the celebrity guest picker for Saturday.

ESPN isn’t letting its plans leak, though

ESPN was asked by CBS college football reporter Richard Johnson if President Trump will make an appearance.

Perhaps tellingly, the Worldwide Leader in Sports declined to comment.

“ESPN declined comment to CBS Sports over whether Trump would appear on Saturday morning’s “College GameDay,” which will broadcast live from Knoxville, Tennessee. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), a co-author of the sports bill, appeared as a guest on the program two weeks ago in Austin, ahead of Week 2’s matchup between Texas and Ohio State,” he reported.
