Washington Huskies See New Additions to Injury Report

The Washington Huskies football team is set to begin its Big Ten slate against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 8 p.m. PT on Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

The Huskies will enter the game 3-0 but not without a share of injuries.

Fourth-year defensive tackle Elinneus Davis, who's been out the last two weeks with a calf injury, is set to return against the team representing his native state of Minnesota.

Fourth-year cornerback Emmanuel Karnley is also week-to-week with a soft tissue injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Utah State Aggies.

However, there could be more injuries that Washington is dealing with.

The Huskies released its first Big Ten injury report of the season Wednesday. All Big Ten teams due in conference games, and UW didn't release one the last three weeks as a result.

There were no new updates on players set to be out for Saturday. Davis and fourth-year edge rusher Logan George are both marked as "probable."

Karnley was on the injury report as "questionable" in addition to fourth-year center Landen Hatchett, who's been out the entire season with a broken wrist he suffered last season.

In addition to Hatchett and Karnley, third-year cornerback Rahshawn Clark and fourth-year defensive tackle DeSean Watts were also marked as questionable.

Clark and Watts are two new additions to the injury report. Both players have played all three players this season.

Clark has been the team's starting nickelback, punt returner and kick returner. He's also played snaps at free safety in formations that allows safeties Alex McLaughlin and Rylon Dillard-Allen to play closer to the line of scrimmage.

In three games, Clark has totaled four tackles (two solo) in his three games, has snagged one interception and has two passes defended.

In the return game, the Seattle native has returned five punts for 29 yards and six kicks for 113 yards.

Watts, who transferred to Washington from Sacramento State this past offseason, has been a key rotational piece on the interior of the defensive line. Through his first three games as a member of a Power Four roster, Watts has five total tackles (four solo), including two tackles for loss and one sack.

Clark's backup at nickelback, true freshman Jeron Jones, is also Karnley's on the outside. If Karnley and Clark are unable to go, UW will likely be forced to go with a young cornerback group for its Big Ten opener comprised of Jones and second-year Dylan Robinson on the outside and either first-year Elijah Durr or second-year Ramonz Adams Jr. at the nickel.

A potential Watts absence would leave the Huskies down a crucial member of the defensive line, but the unit will balance out the loss with the return of Davis.
