Mississippi State football features a new, rising NFL Draft prospect behind center. Quarterback Kamario Taylor is emerging with the buzz in Starksville. So now Kansas City Chiefs defensive star Chris Jones vows to keep him from drifting off.
By putting his money where his mouth is. And pouring money into Mississippi State to prevent a College Football Transfer Portal entry.
Jones made it boldly clear that the Bulldogs must keep Taylor moving ahead before he officially enters the draft. He shared with reporters Thursday what his plan is.

“I’m going to donate some (toward NIL). We’ve got to keep this quarterback, we’ve got to keep him around,” Jones, a Mississippi State alum, said. “With all these NIL teams spending $45-50 million a year, the salary cap doesn’t exist in college, so definitely trying to keep our quarterback with us.”
Jones once teamed with a similar star behind center in former Bulldog Dak Prescott. So Taylor brings a similar high ceiling at 6-foot-4, 230-pounds.
“I think we have one of the best the FBS right now, he’s doing really, really well for us, and he’s young,” Jones added. “We just have to keep him on our roster, because the NIL has changed everything. Definitely believe in our guys, got a lot of belief in Mississippi State right now and KT.”
Taylor isn’t just impressing with his size or statistical numbers. But also amid Mississippi State’s fast start in 2026. Head coach Jeff Lebby and Taylor has collaborated to lift the Bulldogs to a No. 24 ranking, a first for the coach. And Mississippi State took down LaNorris Sellers and South Carolina to earn the national ranking. Now MSU hosts No. 19 Missouri on Saturday.
