LSU vs Oklahoma Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today — College Football Week 14

NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...

The No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners aim to safeguard their College Football Playoff hopes as they close out the regular season at home against the LSU Tigers.

With injuries in the running back corps, the Sooners will look to quarterback John Mateer to carry the offense.

See why I’m eyeing his player props with my LSU vs. Oklahoma predictions and college football picks for Saturday, November 29.

LSU vs Oklahoma prediction

LSU vs Oklahoma best bet: John Mateer Over 36.5 rushing yards (-114)

Let’s make things clear — this is supposed to be an ugly, hard-fought football game in which the Oklahoma Sooners have to scratch and claw their way to a College Football Playoff bid. At least, that’s the overwhelming expectation in a game with a total of 36.5.

The Sooners have achieved a 9-2 record despite playing uninspiring offense, failing to crack 360 yards in a game since September 13. Part of that is due to a run of bad injury luck at the running back position, where the top three (Xavier Robinson, Tory Blaylock, Jovantae Barnes) are all struggling with various ailments.

Quarterback John Mateer handled a bigger workload on the ground in Week 13 against Missouri, toting the rock 18 times for 60 yards in a 17-6 win. The regular season finale brings a similar game style in a low-scoring game where Mateer’s legs will be paramount for Oklahoma to move the ball.

The LSU Tigers excel in the secondary, holding five of their last six opponents to under 205 passing yards, while ranking 24th in PFF coverage grade and 23rd in EPA per pass. Look for Mateer to use his legs instead of his arm.

LSU vs Oklahoma same-game parlay

Mateer will handle a large rushing workload due to Oklahoma’s cluster injuries at running back, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Sooners will be overly efficient or effective on offense in general.

Oklahoma ranks just 99th in EPA per play, making LSU a live underdog. The Sooners have only two wins by more than 10.5 points against SEC opponents, and one of those was an 11-point victory last week over Missouri.

Oklahoma will survive an advance to the College Football Playoff, where its offensive woes will eventually loom large.

LSU vs Oklahoma spread prediction

LSU will cover the spread, as +10.5 is too generous in a game where neither team has much margin for error.

LSU vs Oklahoma Over/Under prediction

This game will stay Under the total as LSU’s offensive line issues remain a roadblock, and Oklahoma’s offensive struggles continue.
