What to know for Bemidji State's homecoming game against Minot State

Sep. 24—BEMIDJI — It will be a busy weekend for both Lumberjacks and Beavers football fans at Chet Anderson Stadium.
As the Bemidji High School football team gets set to host its homecoming game on Friday, the Bemidji State football team will host its homecoming contest against Minot State in the Battle of the Beavers on Saturday. If BSU wins, it will take part in its traditional jump into Lake Bemidji after the game.
Bemidji State (1-3) is coming off two losses on the road to Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul. Last week against the Golden Bears, BSU held the lead until a late drive clinched the game for CSP.
Minot State (1-3), meanwhile, are coming is a record-breaking performance against Southwest Minnesota State last week. It's famed triple option offense ran the ball for 445 yards, a program record, in a 59-0 drubbing of the Mustangs.
Here's what you need to know about homecoming:
Date: Saturday, Sept. 26
Tailgate: 11 a.m. at Diamond Point Park
Kickoff: 2 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium
BSU Alumni and Foundation Game Day Experience
The Decker Hall lawn is hosting a football pregame celebration filled with activities and entertainment.
The experience runs from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Football Alumni Photos
Football alumni will be invited onto the field at Chet Anderson Stadium for a group photo, along with other buddy photos, commemorating their connection with Beaver football over the years.
Photos will run from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
D1 Rejects Small School Saturday live show
The Division 1 Rejects, who run a website and social media accounts focusing on D-II, D-III and NAIA college football, will have a live "Small School Saturday" show once the pregame tailgate starts at 11 a.m. at Diamond Point Park
The Acoust Hicks and a Chick will also provide music for the tailgate.
There will also be plenty of food options throughout the homecoming festivities.
In-game recognitions
During the first half's two-minute timeout, the BSU Football Centennial Season Team will be recognized, celebrating the top 100 players and coaches throughout Bemidji State football history.
BSU will recognize its 2026 Homecoming Court on the field during halftime, along with this year's Bemidji State Alumni and Foundation Outstanding Alumni Award recipients
At the two-minute timeout in the second half, BSU will recognize Tilley Shipley, who competes with Bemidji State unified basketball and has been a part of Special Olympics Minnesota for two years.
Lake Bemidji jump
If Bemidji State wins, the team will take part in its traditional jump into Lake Bemidji.
Gates on the Diamond Point Park side of the stadium will be opened during the fourth quarter so fans can make their way toward the lake utilizing the park's bike path.
Fans will not be allowed on the playing surface until the teams complete post-game handshakes. BSU asks spectators to be aware of their surroundings as the players and coaches run towards the lake to take part in the lake jump.
