Vanderbilt football vs Auburn score prediction for Week 4 game

Vanderbilt football will hit the road for its first road game of 2026 when it takes on Auburn.

The Commodores (3-0) defeated NC State (1-2) on a last-second fumble recovery for a touchdown on Sept. 19 when the Wolfpack were attempting to run the clock out. Vanderbilt previously defeated Delaware and Austin Peay, both at home.

Auburn (2-1, 0-1 SEC) defeated Baylor in a low-scoring contest in its first game, followed by a 43-8 rout of Southern Miss. But the Tigers lost at home, 44-39, to Florida in a barnburner on Sept. 19.

Vanderbilt plays at Auburn on Sept. 26 (3:15 p.m. CT, SEC Network).

Jared Curtis is set to once again start at quarterback at Vanderbilt.

Both of these teams have had up-and-down starts to the season. Auburn, in particular, has played two Power Four teams. Against Baylor, the Tigers performed well defensively, and against Florida they performed well offensively. But they haven't been able to combine the two in the same game.

Vanderbilt, meanwhile, has been plagued by penalties and run game issues and will be starting a true freshman quarterback in his first road game and his first SEC game.

Why Vanderbilt has an advantage: Vanderbilt has the ultra-talented Jared Curtis, who has already shown his ability to make highlight-reel plays that can win SEC games. There's a lot that the Commodores could clean up in the penalty department that would immediately make them better.

Why Auburn has an advantage: There's a lot that Vanderbilt can clean up, but the Commodores haven't cleaned that up yet, so it's difficult to just assume that they will. Especially when it's the first road game of the season with a freshman quarterback, and Auburn's homecoming to boot.
