College football and sponsorships are nothing new to the CFB world, as brands all over the country have found an array of ways to get their name involved in one of the nation’s biggest entities.
However, UCF’s recent announcement of its new Walt Disney World helmet sponsorship is making waves on social media, with fans expressing immediate displeasure at the addition of their team’s newest helmet logo.
The Knights’ new sponsorship will be displayed on the back of their helmet and was reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel as a way for the school to “find creative ways to draw sponsorship revenue.”
College Football World Reacts to UCF’s Announcement
“College football is ruined,” exclaimed one X user.
“Can it buy us an offensive line?” asked a UCF fan.
One Syracuse fan chimed in on the announcement, stating, “How many more company logos do they need on a helmet? This sport is becoming more of a joke with each passing day.”
“Perfect fit for a Mickey Mouse program,” joked one X user.
“Surprising that UCF hadn’t capitalized on that opportunity already, honestly,” stated one Virginia Tech Hokies influencer.
“Should have just turned their helmets into Winnie the Pooh,” suggested a fan. “It matches their Mickey Mouse National Championship,” joked another user.
“There has to be a line somewhere. A small logo on the back is one thing, but if we end up with sponsored helmet logos, jersey fronts, and midfield branding, college football is gonna look like NASCAR by 2030,” exclaimed one X user.

Clearly not a favorite by any means among Knights fans, the logo is unlikely to be removed and is something UCF viewers are just going to have to get used to.
This also leaves the door open for other college programs to follow suit in their attempts to gain more sponsorship revenue for their respective schools.

While it’s not what college football fans like to see on their teams’ equipment on game day, it doesn’t seem like there will be an end to where sponsorships can go until the NCAA says so.
