Ohio State opens up Big Ten play after going 2-1 in the nonconference slate. First up on the docket is Bret Bielema and the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Illinois offense has been humming, albeit against inferior opponents. However, the defense has been somewhat of a concern. That's bad news for Bielema's club against the Buckeye offensive juggernaut.
The Ohio State running attack has been lacking so far this year. While there have been glimpses of greatness, it seems the run game has regressed somewhat from a year ago. Ryan Day is clearly frustrated with the state of the ground game. During his weekly press conference, he said he has challenged his tailbacks to run angry and physical. This will be a good game to see if the message was received.

Give Sayin time to work, and bad things happen to opposing defenses. Once again, the Buckeyes will underwhelm with the ground game, but the passing attack will pick the Illini clean. Illinois isn’t showing enough of an offensive punch to pull this off, but it’ll have its moments. It won’t be close to enough, as Ohio State wins easily (and watch, it’ll probably drop even further in the rankings).
