Notre Dame has won three straight games to open the season, while Purdue has lost two straight games to drop to 1-2 and a 0-1 conference record.
Notre Dame cruised to a 27-10 victory over Michigan State last week. Notre Dame’s offense was a well oiled machine. Junior wide receiver Micah Gilbert had a career-best eight catches for 170 yards, while Nolan James Jr. rushed for a career-high 121 yards on 25 carries.
Meanwhile, the Boilermakers traveled across the country to face the UCLA Bruins and lost by a final score of 52-38. Purdue’s defense left something to be desired with the Bruins racking up 645 total yards of offense, including 369 rushing yards. A bright spot was quarterback Ryan Browne, who passed for 378 yards and three touchdowns.
The teams battle it out for the Shillelagh Trophy, with Notre Dame dominating Purdue in a 56-30 victory last season.
