West Virginia (3-0) hosts OSU (2-1) at 6 p.m.

The Mountaineers enter the matchup as a two-point favorite. The Cowboys have found recent success playing at West Virginia, carrying a five-game winning streak that started in 2025.

Rich Rodriguez, in his second season of his second stint as the Mountaineers’ head coach, is looking to end OSU’s streak. In Rodriguez’ time coaching WVU from 2001-07, the Mountaineers went 11-1 in night games at home. WVU outscored opponents by an average of 40-18 in those contests.

Best player: Former OU quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. has thrown for 477 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions this season leading an offense built around the run. He also leads the Mountaineers with 322 rushing yards (7.3 yards per carry) and six more touchdowns.

The case for West Virginia: The Mountaineers just beat No. 25-ranked Virginia 38-27 by rushing for 247 yards and 4.8 yards per carry. WVU can keep the ball on the ground and reduce possessions in the game, limiting how many times OSU’s high-powered offense gets to touch the ball.

The case for OSU: The Cowboy offensive line is protecting quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who has been sacked once in the past two weeks. That gives Mestemaker and the OSU offense the full playbook and ability to score. West Virginia’s pass defense is allowing 246.7 yards per game, No. 14 of 16 teams in the Big 12, and Mestemaker could have a big day.
