Montana is off to a 3-1 start this season, defeating Southern Utah 28-21, Drake 45-10, and Utah Tech 35-14, before falling 52-17 to Oregon State last week. This season, senior quarterback Keali’i Ah Yat, a native of Hawaii, has completed 94 of 143 passes for 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns to just one interception. Senior running back Eli Gillman has 67 carries for 409 yards and seven touchdowns this season for Montana, rushing for 6.1 yards per carry. His backup, Dylan Paine, has 25 carries for 189 yards (7.6 yards per rush) and two touchdowns. The team’s leading receiver is junior pass-catcher Brooks Davis, a native of California, who has 35 catches for 446 yards and two touchdowns this year.
They will meet a UC Davis team that is likewise 3-1 this season, with wins over Portland State (31-24), San Diego (49-17) and Stetson (45-7). Its one loss on the campaign was a 56-10 setback against SMU. In the win over Stetson, the Aggies were led by quarterback Treynor Cleeland, who connected on 26 of 37 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns. Samuel Gbatu Jr. caught 10 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown in the win, while Jordan Fisher had 14 carries for 65 yards and one touchdown.
