Oregon football will turn to backup quarterback Dylan Raiola following a scary injury to starter Dante Moore against No. 12 Southern California on Saturday.
Moore, who was hurt after taking a late hit to his head while he slid in the second quarter, lay prone on the field at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for several minutes before he was carted off the field, placed in an ambulance and transported out of the stadium.
Raiola finished the final two plays of the drive, capping it with a 3-yard touchdown to receiver Evan Stewart.
There is no replacing Moore, who despite being the unquestioned leader of the 16th-ranked Ducks is also one of the top signal-callers in college football and a projected top-five pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. However, the player called into action has plenty of experience of his own leading a fellow Big Ten team.

Who is Oregon's backup QB?
Raiola is Oregon's backup quarterback, having transferred to play for the Ducks over the offseason after spending two seasons at Nebraska, where he committed out of high school. Raiola committed to Oregon on Jan. 12, before Moore decided he would return for a final season of college football. Even after Moore opted to remain in Eugene, Raiola stayed on as his backup.

As a freshman in 2024, Raiola completed 275-of-410 passes (67.1%) for 2,819 yards and 13 touchdowns to 11 interceptions as he led the Cornhuskers to a 7-6 record and a win in the Pinstripe Bowl. The following season, he completed 181-of-250 passes (72.4%) for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns to six interceptions in nine games. However, his season ended after he suffered a broken fibula on Nov. 1, 2025, against USC.

Raiola was a 5-star recruit and the No. 21 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, per 247Sports' Composite rankings. He was the No. 3 quarterback of his class. A Buford, Georgia, native, Raiola flipped his commitment from Kirby Smart and Georgia football to play for Nebraska.
