Somehow, Iowa football pulled it off inside the Big House in Ann Arbor against Michigan.
Hank Brown led a game-winning drive, finding Reece Vander Zee on a touchdown strike as time expired. The Hawkeyes secured a 20-19 victory over the Wolverines in the Big Ten Conference opener.
If anyone doubted Brown and his abilities, those doubts were put to rest. In one drive, the Auburn transfer made believers out of all Iowa fans watching.

Here are three takeaways from Iowa’s stunning win over Michigan in Big Ten Conference play.
1. Hank Brown Is QB1 For Iowa Now And Forever
No matter what Hank Brown does from here on out, Hawkeye fans will never forget him. Brown finished 21 of 35 for 227 yards, throwing two touchdowns vs. Michigan. That included an 11-play, 91-yard drive for the game-winning score.
Brown quickly led Iowa down the field against the Wolverine defense. They covered those 91 yards in 106 seconds, leaving no time on the clock.
He had six completions on the drive to win it. That included a 29-yard pass with two seconds left to position the game-winning throw ot Vander Zee.
2. Reece Vander Zee Cements Legendary Status
Much like his quarterback, Reece Vander Zee will be remembered for this. Vander Zee, a former Iowa high school standout, made a highlight-reel catch for the winning score.
Vander Zee dragged both feet and hauled in the pass from Brown from 16 yards out. He also had a key 12-yard catch for a first down earlier in the drive to end the game.
He led the Hawkeyes with five receptions for 66 yards. Vander Zee also caught a 16-yard pass for a score from Brown in the fourth quarter to put Iowa ahead, 14-13.
3. Braeden Jackson Is The Next Special Teams Demon For The Hawkeyes
Remember when opponents were scared of Cooper DeJean in the return game? Another former Iowa high school football standout just might have caused flashbacks of the current Philadelphia Eagles star.
Braeden Jackson, the son of ex-NFLer Fred Jackson, returned a kickoff 99 yards against Michigan to get Iowa on the board in the first quarter.
Jackson was a star in his own right at Ankeny Centennial, setting a school record with 1,964 all-purpose yards as a senior and 27 touchdowns.
