Oregon State has agreed to terms with Alabama co-offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard to become its next head coach, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Shephard will sign a five-year contract, a significant commitment for a program seeking to rebuild amid conference realignment.
He arrives in Corvallis with deep experience in the Pac-12 footprint. He previously worked at Washington State and spent a pair of seasons on Kalen DeBoer’s staff at Washington, where the Huskies reached the 2023 national championship game.
Oregon State fired Trent Bray after posing a 5-14 record in the midst of his second season. The Beavers are 2-9 going into the final week.
Shephard has built a reputation as an elite talent developer with several future NFL draftees in the receiver ranks. He's a major reason why Alabama’s current star tandem of Germie Bernard and phenom Ryan Williams have produced at a high level.
This is a new beginning for Shephard who inherits an opportunistic rebuild with the goal of restoring Oregon State’s competitive foundation.
