The BYU Cougars (3-0) hit the first bye week of the 2026 football season. While Kalani Sitake's team wasn't in action, there was a lot of moving and shaking in this week's Associated Press Top 25 College Football poll.

BYU slid down one spot to No. 10, but still remained the Big 12's top ranked team ahead of Week 5. As for the rest of the conference, Utah is creeping towards the top 10, along with Texas Tech moving down another spot to No. 12. The Red Raiders were still above the Utes, who moved up two spots to No. 13 following the win at Iowa State. Oklahoma State is at No. 19 this week. Houston moved up five spots to No. 20 after winning at Georgia Southern.

Outside the Big 12, Florida became the team of the week following the 52-28 upset over 4th-ranked Ole Miss in Gainesville on Saturday. Florida's rise to No. 8 was the biggest since LSU leaped 14 spots, from No. 25 to No. 11, on Sept. 4, 2018. Jon Sumrall picked up a signature win for the Gators, showing strength over last year's Playoff team.

No. 1 Texas was able to hold off No. 14 Tennessee for a 20-17 win in Knoxville. The SEC Game of the Week was an ugly slug fest up until an exciting finish in the fourth quarter. Georgia and Notre Dame hold tight to round out the top three. Miami moved into No. 4 ahead of Ohio State to round out the top five. As for the rest of the Top 10, Indiana, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and BYU are the elites at the top.

Big movers and shakers

Iowa earned its highest ranking since 2021, at No. 14, for knocking off Michigan. Kyle Whittingham's first loss since taking over in Ann Arbor. Oregon went up five spots to No. 15 after winning on the road against USC. Mississippi State moved up eight spots to No. 16, its highest ranking in four years.

BYU hits the road for the second time in the 2026 season. They'll face TCU in Fort Worth on Saturday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).
