LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin is making embarrassing excuses for his team’s injury-riddled start to the season.
The Tigers improved to 3-1 on the year on Saturday, taking down Texas A&M, 35-6. However, the Tigers lost a key member of their defense in the win. LSU star Whit Weeks suffered a leg fracture and will miss serious time.
“The injury isn’t believed to be season-ending, sources told Adam Rittenberg,” ESPN reported on Sunday.
“Weeks, who missed five games with a leg injury last season, is second on the team with 23 tackles. He has 2.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries.”
Kiffin knew that it looked bad.
“Obviously it didn’t look good when he walked off,” Kiffin said postgame.
On Sunday, Kiffin blamed the SEC’s 9-game conference schedule for the injury problems. LSU is just four games into the year, having played two conference games.
Kiffin said that the injuries speak to the SEC’s 9-game conference schedule, “versus other conferences, and how (they) don’t have to play players or play them as long.

College football fans are mocking Kiffin for his claim.
“They’ve played 3 games. Don’t blame a schedule you haven’t even played through,” one fan wrote.
“Lane you’ve been coaching in this conference for half your life you knew exactly what 9 SEC games was gonna look like,” one fan wrote.
“Good to know that all of the teams in the B1G, ACC, & Big 12 get through the entire season with zero injuries,” one fan added.
“He’s played 2 SEC games. This statement might mean something at the end of the year 😂 You just lap up whatever he says,” one fan added.
