Deion Sanders Makes Plea To Colorado Fans After Disappointing 2-2 Start To Season

Colorado is 2-2 on the season, following a Week 4 loss to Baylor on Saturday afternoon. Deion Sanders isn’t happy.

“We’re better than this. It seems as though we’re better than our opponents, but the score does not dictate that. And that’s the fascinating thing, we’ve got to find out why,” Sanders said after Colorado’s 23-13 loss at Baylor.

So far, though, Colorado is what its record says it is.

The Buffaloes have not been getting very good play at the quarterback position. Colorado benched top recruit Julian Lewis on Saturday. Lewis had gone 11-for-16 for 75 yards prior to getting benched on Saturday.

Isaac Wilson, the brother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson, completed 12 of 25 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in backup duty.

Deion Sanders, though, is pleading with Colorado’s fans. He does not want them to give up on Lewis.

“Let me digest this game,” Sanders said postgame. “I’m a little upset right now, but I’m going to be kind because you guys are some of my favorites. Let me think that through on the plane.”

Colorado’s coach remains confident in Lewis

Deion Sanders remains confident in Lewis’s abilities.

“Don’t give up on Juju,” Sanders said. “That kid, I think he plays with tremendous effort and tremendous heart. He’s not quitting and he’s not abandoning anybody.”

Ultimately, Coach Prime is trying to take ownership for the poor results.

“I’ll take the responsibility,” Sanders said. “It was a decision that I made because I was trying to get us going. That’s it. Just based on, let’s go. We got to get going. We got to score.”

Colorado still has eight games remaining this season, so the Buffaloes will look to get back on track soon.
