Space Station View of Earth at Night
A dark Earth, lit up in areas by city lights, takes up most of the image. A small sliver of light is visible at the bottom right curve of our home planet. Part of the International Space Station can be faintly seen at the bottom of the photo.

This nighttime view of the United States, dotted with city lights looking toward New York City (center), was taken at approximately 3:40 a.m. local time on Sept. 8, 2026, from the International Space Station as it orbited 259 miles above Earth.
