The Texas Longhorns have held a commitment with 2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal since last November. With that said, he's still being courted by other schools which include LSU and Florida. Speaking of the latter, Royal was in Gainesville this past weekend as he witnessed Florida's 52-28 beatdown of Ole Miss.

The win for the Gators not only put the country on notice that they're a force to be reckoned with, but it also made a huge impression on Royal. When he spoke about how things went on his visit, he expressed that they went extremely well. In fact, the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder mentioned that playing for Florida is something he could see himself doing per Sam Spiegelman of Rivals.

“One-hundred-percent, I can,' Royal told Rivals.

“That offense looks very explosive,” Royal continued. “I felt like coming into the game. I felt like Florida was going to win, but I was not expecting 52 points, and it really could have been like 70. That offense is very explosive. I think Jadan Baugh is the best running back in the country. Oh my gosh. That Florida quarterback — if I were to come here, he’ll be here for another two years. He’s gonna be elite as well. Being me playing with being on the same field with VB (Vernell Brown) and Dallas Wilson and, being able to replace Eric Singleton.”

Well, that certainly is a lot of love that Royal is showing towards Florida. However, when a team is playing as well as they are and the talent is elite, it's not surprising that it becomes appealing to player like Royal who undoubtedly wants to have the best around him.

Royal has been to see Texas, LSU, and Florida over the last 30 days for game visits. This has put him in a position to make his final decision on where he'll play on the college level, and it may come sooner than later.

“I’m very close to a decision,” Royal said. “Since I’ve been to every school — every game day, every experience, every coach is down. I’m very close to a decision — and maybe an announcement can be coming anytime soon.”

As the top recruit committed to Texas, and the No. 5 ranked player in the country, this would be a huge blow to the Longhorns who have the nation's No. 6 class in the 2027 cycle. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
