Lane Kiffin’s coaching future appears to be down to two options. He'll either remain at Ole Miss or take the job at LSU, according to reports from On3’s Chris Low and GatorsOnline’s Zach Abolverdi.

Florida has been officially ruled out of the running for the Rebels’ head coach. According to Abolverdi, the Gators no longer expect to land Kiffin and have shifted their search elsewhere.

“Florida does not expect to land Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin and is closing in on other targets,” Abolverdi reported Thursday. “In recent days, sources said Kiffin’s erratic communication and behavior has led UF to think he may be more interested in his other options.”

Kiffin offered little clarity in a pregame interview with ESPN’s Marty Smith before the Egg Bowl, saying his focus was on Mississippi State and potentially earning an eleventh win. 

“This noise thing you’re referring to? This has been going on for weeks,” Kiffin said. “I’m looking at we kick off in, what, an hour and a half… that’s all I’m worried about today.”

While both Florida and LSU dismissed their head coaches this season. An announcement could come as soon as Friday afternoon, after the conclusion of the Egg Bowl.
