TV network designated for No. 1 Texas vs. Oklahoma

ABC will air the annual Red River Showdown between the No. 1 Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl on October 10, the SEC announced on Monday.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. Central.

Both teams are heading into a bye week before the rivalry matchup with Texas sitting atop both major polls after ranked victories over Ohio State in Austin and Tennessee in Knoxville have allowed head coach Steve Sarkisian’s program to remain undefeated at 4-0.

Things aren’t going as well in Norman, where recently-extended head coach Brent Venables and his Sooners are 2-2 as offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and quarterback John Mateer have come under fire from the crimson and cream fanbase. A 17-10 road loss to Michigan in Week 2 was compounded by a 41-13 demolition by No. 2 Georgia on Saturday in Athens during which Venables considered benching Mateer at halftime. Mateer finished the game with three turnovers.

Venables is 1-3 against Texas after getting out-scored 139-43 in the Cotton Bowl, including failing to score a single touchdown in each of the three losses.
