Expert picks, predictions for the Big 12 and top Week 14 college games

The 2025 college football season is now wrapping up, and rivalry week is upon us. In the Big 12, BYU and Texas Tech are the teams to beat. Joining those two programs are Utah and Arizona, which have only one loss. All four enter the final week of the regular season with a chance at making the Big 12 title game.
The Week 14 Big 12 slate features every team in action as rivalry week headlines the season's final week. Arizona will go for its ninth win against Arizona State in Tempe, while Utah faces Kansas in Lawrence. BYU hosts UCF and Texas Tech travels to Morgantown to face the West Virginia Mountaineers. Elsewhere around the Big 12, Kansas State, Baylor and UCF go for a sixth win to become bowl eligible.
Every week, our staff gathers to pick every Big 12 football game, along with some of the biggest college football matchups. It is a challenging task, especially considering the conference's crowded nature. Which two teams will make the Big 12 Championship game?
So, how will Week 14 play out in the Big 12? We have a full eight-game schedule, and our Buffaloes Wire staff picked all five conference games straight up, plus five top matchups from around college football.
Here are our expert picks for Week 14. But first, here are the standings so far from our writers through ten weeks.

Utah gets it done on the road and hopes for some help elsewhere to clinch a title game berth.
No. 20 Arizona State vs. No. 25 Arizona
7:00 p.m., Fox (Friday)
Griffin: Arizona
Both teams sit at 8–3, but they've taken very different paths to get there. ASU was locked in a tight game with Colorado until the fourth quarter last week, while Arizona has ripped off four straight wins against quality opponents. I'll take the Wildcats to beat the Sun Devils in Tempe.
Jack: Arizona State
Xavier: Arizona State
The Sun Devils are in a must-win situation to stay in contention for the Big 12. It'll be a battle of wills between an ASU offense that has been solid and a top-five Big 12 Wildcat defense. The Sun Devils are 5-1 at home, but anything can happen in a rivalry game. I think it'll be close, but when push comes to shove, the Sun Devils, behind the Big 12's second-leading rusher in Raleek Brown, will take home the Territorial Cup for the second straight year.
Charlie: Arizona State
I think Arizona State's running game, led by quarterback Jeff Sims and running back Raleek Brown, will be good enough to get the home win. However, it won't be easy, as I see the game coming down to the wire.

Baylor vs. Houston

Griffin: Baylor
Houston fell to TCU last week in a strange game, and while Baylor has been trending down, I think playing at home with bowl eligibility on the line gives them just enough to pull this out.
Jack: Houston
Xavier: Houston
While this rivalry might be better on the hardwood, this game will be fun to watch. Houston and Baylor have potent offenses that can move the ball, averaging 453.8 and 388.5 yards per game, respectively. It'll be an offensive shootout between the best passing offense in the Big 12 and a top-four rushing attack. In the end, Houston won't drop two in a row, and Baylor is coming off an abysmal game against Arizona. The Coogs should take this one.

Kansas State vs. Colorado

We will share our Colorado-Kansas State predictions in a separate post, where each staff member will provide a final score prediction and offer some thoughts. Colorado is aiming to end its season on a high note with a road win over a desperate Kansas State squad.

BYU gets the win and punches its ticket to the Big 12 title game in a likely rematch against Texas Tech.
TCU vs. Cincinnati
1:30 p.m., Fox
Griffin: Cincinnati
TCU is favored, but I don't trust that defense against a high-octane Cincinnati offense led by Brendan Sorsby. I like the Bearcats to win in Fort Worth.
Jack: TCU
My two Big 12 darlings face off in a rivalry week showdown with not much on the line, but bragging rights. This shapes up to be a classic Big 12 shootout with both teams presenting potent offenses that can air it out with ease. In those matchups, I'll lead toward the team with a more rounded-out offense, and I've believed in TCU too much this season; I don't see why I should switch now.
Xavier: Cincinnati
Much like Baylor and Houston, this game will be even more of a shootout. Cincinnati and TCU don't have the best defenses, but they have explosive offenses. TCU's Josh Hoover and Cincy's Bredan Sorsby should have a field day against opposing defenses. The Bearcats and Horned Frogs each have a bottom-five passing defense. The Bearcats, however, won't lose four in a row and take this one in an offensive shootout in Fort Worth.
Charlie: TCU
I see the Horned Frogs force a few turnovers at home, and their high-powered passing game gets it going. TCU has looked like a much better team at home this season, and it proved to be the difference Saturday afternoon.

No. 16 Texas vs. No. 3 Texas A&M
5:30 p.m., ABC (Friday)
Griffin: Texas
A&M narrowly escaped South Carolina two weeks ago, revealing some vulnerabilities. With this game in Austin, I think Texas can grind out a win. Arch Manning has been playing at the level everyone expected earlier in the season, and if the Longhorns' defense can force Marcel Reed into mistakes, it's hard not to see Texas coming out on top.
Jack: Texas A&M
Xavier: Texas
Charlie: Texas
The Aggies are about to face the most formidable defense they have dealt with all season. As they always say, defense wins championships, and while this is not a championship game for Texas, it is a must-win to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive. I like the Longhorns at home.
No. 15 Michigan vs. No. 1 Ohio State

Griffin: Ohio State
Last year, Ryan Day tried too hard to "out-physical" Michigan after hearing all the talk about toughness, and it cost him. This time, I think that narrative dies. With Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate back, the Buckeyes go into Ann Arbor and hand Michigan a beating. I don't trust Bryce Underwood's arm yet in big games, and I think the OSU defense could have a field day with the true freshman.
Jack: Michigan
The Game is a special kind of rivalry, one that gets coaches fired, and as the college football landscape evolves, we can only hope those stay intact. While I believe Ohio State is the more talented team, I'm not picking them for one reason: Ryan Day. For whatever reason, Michigan is just his kypronite. If he couldn't beat them with a National Championship roster, why would he be able to do it on the road this year?

What I love about "The Game" is that anybody who isn't a college football fan can watch this rivalry and instantly become one. I remember vividly when Buckeye's J.T. Barrett and Curtis Samuel won the No. 2 vs. No. 3 matchup in 2016, which earned Jim Harbaugh a hefty fine. Nowadays, the Wolverines have dominated this rivalry as tempers flared in last year's matchup. Anything can happen, and the cards are stacked against Michigan. Their second-leading rusher and the second head of their two-headed monster, Justice Haynes, is doubtful. But I'll never bet against the Wolverines in the Big House.

No. 19 Tennessee vs. No. 14 Vanderbilt

Griffin: Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt wins. Both teams need this to keep any CFP hope alive, but even with the game in Knoxville, I'm not sold on Tennessee. The Vols' defense has improved, yet stopping Diego Pavia and the Vanderbilt ground attack is a tough assignment. I like Pavia and the Commodores to walk out of Neyland with a massive win.

Auburn vs. No. 10 Alabama
5:30 p.m., ABC
Griffin: Alabama
A 5.5-point spread for the Tide feels uneasy. It's win-and-in for Alabama with a CFP berth on the line, but going into Jordan-Hare at night is never simple. Even Nick Saban has called it "haunted." Auburn's defense has been strong all year, and with Ashton Daniels starting at QB this week, there's genuine uncertainty around what the Tigers will look like. Still, I think Alabama finds a way to escape with a win.

I am in the same boat as my colleagues, that even on the road, Alabama can get the win inside Jordan-Hare. With Aston Daniels taking over under center, I don't see the Tigers getting enough production on offense to win the game. It will be another tight one-possession game, but the Crimson Tide will prevail.
