Florida's seeding in Week 4 College Football Playoff projections

Following a 4-0 start to the 2026 campaign under Jon Sumrall, the Florida Gators find themselves in serious contention for a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time since it expanded to 12 teams.
USA TODAY Sports writer Erick Smith recently published his college football bowl projections, with Sumrall and Co. rising from the ranks of the lower bowl games into the CFP discussion. In his Week 4 update, Florida finds itself seeded at No. 10, falling to No. 7-seeded BYU in the first round.
The Gators join three other SEC schools among the upper echelon of the collegiate gridiron.
Holding the top seed is Florida's fiercest conference rival, Georgia, while Texas checks in at No. 5 and Alabama at No. 8. The SEC's tally of four teams beats the Big Ten by one school, while the Big 12 has two fewer; the newly resurrected Pac-12 has one representative, as does the ACC, and Notre Dame is in the conversation as an independent.
