Purdue football lands commitment from Center Grove quarterback, first of 2028 class

WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue football stayed in-state to land the quarterback to lead its 2028 recruiting class.

Center Grove's Oscar Sloan committed to the Boilermakers on Tuesday. He announced his decision on Instagram with a simple message: "I'm staying home."

Sloan visited for last Saturday's game against Notre Dame. But he has been a major target for coach Barry Odom's staff — and frequent visitor for camps and games — since it arrived.

The 6-4, 195-pound Sloan is a three-star prospect ranked No. 536 in the On3 industry rankings. Through six games this season he has completed 63.4% of his passes for 759 yards with six touchdowns against one interception.

New Trier's Jackie Ryder is Purdue's Class of 2027 quarterback commit. Odom's first signee for the 2026 class was Corin Berry of Covina, Calif.

Sloan passed for 1,689 yards and 13 TDs (seven interceptions) as a sophomore in his first year as a starter.
