If you're an Iowa football fan, you're just four days away from experiencing one of the biggest home games in Kinnick Stadium history. 

Just one week after taking down Michigan at the Big House in thrilling fashion, the No. 14 Hawkeyes will return to the comfort of Iowa City for a highly-anticipated showdown against the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday (2:30 p.m., CBS).

We've already absorbed plenty of information from Kirk Ferentz's weekly press conference on Tuesday, but it's time to dig even deeper into this matchup. There's no better way to do that than to look at the numbers, so here are some figures that stand out ahead of Saturday's clash at Kinnick. 

1: Michigan and Ohio State aren't often on Iowa's schedule in the same season, so this stat makes complete sense. The Hawkeyes have defeated both teams in the same season just once, and that was back in 1962, when Iowa was in the middle of its dubious streak of 20 consecutive losing seasons. Both wins that year coincidentally came via the same score (28-14), and 2026 is the first time the Hawkeyes have the Wolverines and Buckeyes on their schedule in the same season since 2022. 

To no one's surprise, Ohio State also leads the Big Ten in total offense, compiling 2,088 yards of total yards through four weeks and averaging 45 points per game. 

3: If you thought Iowa would regress in the return game after Kaden Wetjen exhausted his college eligibility, you may want to think again. Second-year walk-on running back Braeden Jackson gave the Hawkeyes a huge momentum boost against Michigan with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown in the first quarter. Why is No. 3 significant here? That's because Iowa has now tallied both a kick and punt return score for three consecutive seasons. 

7: The Buckeyes remain a stout defensive unit under former Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia, ranking seventh in the Big Ten in total defense so far. Ohio State is allowing just 12.3 points per game in Patricia's NFL-inspired scheme. 

10: Iowa's defense has played well under longtime coordinator Phil Parker to begin this season, allowing just three touchdowns in four games. That's an impressive stat by itself, but another impressive number (and the reason why No. 10 is here) is the fact that the Hawkeyes have forced a punt on an opening possession in each of its last 10 games dating back to the 2025 season.

15: Conference realignment has prevented Iowa and Ohio State from getting together very often, but this matchup is special for numerous reasons. First, its the first time these two have faced off as AP top-15 teams in Iowa City since 2006. The Buckeyes have only visited Kinnick Stadium twice since then (2010 and 2017). 

58: We won't dwell on Iowa's thrilling win at Michigan for much longer, but one more impressive number from that victory that you may not be aware of? The Wolverines entered the second half of last weekend's game riding a 58-game winning streak winning leading opponents at the half at the Big House, but the Hawkeyes' comeback win snapped that streak. 

617: Buckeye wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has been torching opponents all season long, and he currently leads the Big Ten with 617 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He'll be the focal point of defensive coordinator Phil Parker's game plan.
