Colorado making QB change to Isaac Wilson vs. Texas Tech, per reports

Colorado is reportedly making a quarterback change ahead of its biggest test of the season.

Utah transfer Isaac Wilson is expected to start Saturday's game against Texas Tech, according to multiple reports. CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz first reported Tuesday morning that Wilson was in line to replace Julian Lewis. On3's Pete Nakos reported Wednesday morning that Wilson will get the start.

The quarterback change comes after Wilson replaced Lewis at halftime of Colorado's 23-13 loss to Baylor. Lewis struggled mightily against the Bears, completing 11 of 16 passes for just 75 yards before Deion Sanders turned to Wilson, who sparked the Buffaloes' offense, throwing for 156 yards and a touchdown and bringing Colorado back into the game to tie it at 13-13.

Despite Zenitz's report surfacing while Sanders was discussing his quarterback plans at his weekly press conference, Coach Prime declined to name a starter, but praised Wilson and said he is looking forward to the possibility of starting.

Wilson transferred to Colorado this offseason after spending two seasons at Utah. He started seven games for the Utes as a true freshman in 2024 and brings considerably more college experience than Lewis.

Perhaps the biggest reason for the move is how much more open Brennan Marion's playbook seemed once Wilson took over. Colorado is trying to win now, and it clearly seems that Deion Sanders and Co. feel Wilson is the better quarterback for that objective right now.
