With Lake Norman (N.C.) on a bye week, Tennessee football’s top 2028 commit, Kaden Craft, was not in action. But the spotlight remained on the future of the Vols’ running back room.
David Gabriel Georges’ workload has been light because his early-game contributions are often enough to get Baylor School a comfortable lead. That was again the case on Friday, Sept. 25.
Here’s how Tennessee’s commits performed in Week 6 of the high school football season.
Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges (2027)
Gabriel Georges won’t sniff high school football record books. His Friday night highlight reels are too ridiculous to fathom.
The five-star pledge willed Baylor School (Tenn.) to another big win on Sept. 25. Gabriel Georges rushed for 87 yards on eight carries. He found the end zone twice.
Penalties derailed the Tennessee pledge from an even bigger night, though. By X’s account, the back had two more touchdowns wiped off the board by penalty — one for hurdling into the end zone and another 75-yard scamper erased by a block in the back.

After a 45-17 win over Montgomery Bell Academy — where Baylor led 38-3 at the break — Gabriel Georges spent his Saturday inside Neyland Stadium as the Vols battled No. 1 Texas.
Three-star running back Asa Barnes (2027)
Tennessee’s backfield shouldn’t have any problems in 2027.
Asa Barnes, the fellow in-state commit and future running mate to Gabriel Georges, put together a 211 all-purpose-yard performance to carry Westview to its 20th consecutive win.
Barnes had a 28-yard receiving touchdown where he shook off three defenders on his way to the end zone.

Three-star quarterback Derrick Baker (2027)
Tennessee’s 2027 quarterback commit did more than enough to pick up a dominant win for Milton (Ga.).
Baker led the Eagles to a 63-0 win on Friday. He did so with a strong, efficient passing attack. The 6-foot-1, 226-pound signal-caller went 16-of-20 for 264 yards and three passing touchdowns.
Baker is up to 1,163 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns with just three interceptions this season. He’s completing 65% of his passes en route to getting Milton to a 4-1 record.
Three-star safety Jaden Butler (2027)
Though a defensive commit, Jaden Butler continues to make the most out of his offensive reps in his final high school season.
The West Tennessee native put together another 100-plus all-purpose yards performance in a bounce-back win for Haywood (Tenn.). Butler rushed eight times for 73 yards, including a long of 37 yards. He also hauled in three passes for 29 yards and a score.
Haywood beat Fayette Ware 44-0 to move to 4-2 on the season. Butler has a team-leading 962 all-purpose yards in six games.
Three-star wide receiver Dayon Cooper (2027)
Listed as an athlete, Dayon Cooper vaulted South Pitt (Tenn.) to a massive win over Red Bank.
Cooper hauled in two touchdown passes in a tight 28-18 win. The 6-foot-1,183-pound receiver recorded two of the three touchdown passes from quarterback Knox Israel. Cooper and South Pitt are now 5-1 on the season.
