NEBRASKA (4-0) vs. Maryland (2-2) – It’s a Business Meeting; Keep the Focus : HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN
EAST LANSING, MI – SEPTEMBER 26: Nebraska Cornhuskers running back Mekhi Nelson (13) celebrates a second quarter touchdown with his teammates during a college football game between the Michigan State Spartans and Nebraska Cornhuskers on September 26, 2026 at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, MI. ”I mean, we lost 56-7 to Indiana two years ago, and we came back and, (while) we didn’t win the next week against (#4)Ohio State, we played pretty dang well (21-17 loss with plenty of assistance from the B1G’s striped felons), so I don’t believe last week carries over this week. – Matt Rhule

2026 Maryland doesn’t appear to be in quite the same place as 2024 Nebraska, but it’s a safe bet this year’s team is hearing about that little piece of history in hopes they don’t look ahead this Saturday. Getting out to a fast start against a Terps team probably reeling a little after their 54-3 loss to UCLA would be a great way of eliminating any thoughts they might be having of a bounce-back.

This is Homecoming weekend for the Huskers, and it couldn’t come soon enough after Nebraska’s brutal one-game road trip following three straight at home, amirite??

Rob Aurich was discussing how difficult it is to sack the fast and elusive 6’5’ 227lb Maryland QB Malik Washington and Nebraska definitely had trouble running him down in last year’s late win. However, he has been dropped five times this season including twice by UCLA. The Huskers have 11 sacks in their last two games, and, while Washington will be more difficult to take down than the previous two signal-callers, they should hurry him repeatedly.

I’m expecting at least three on Saturday.

Expect Aurich to come after him with multiple looks after the Bruins harassed him into an 18-38 142yd day with 4 INT’s, 2 of them being of the pick-6 variety. You can bet our DC spent plenty of time watching UCLA tape after the number they pulled on the Terrapins.

HUSKERS HAPPY HOUR

Hey, did you know we have Corn Nation podcasts every Monday, Tuesday & Thursday? Mine is every Tuesday night at 8pm CST and is called the Huskers Happy Hour…although it often goes over an hour. Or two on occasion – stay as long as you like. You can watch on Corn Nation’s You Tube Live Channel or Corn Nation Facebook or Twitter/X. It also streams on my own page on Facebook Live.

Next Tuesday’s show will be Season 3, Episode 5 and we will hopefully be discussing the 5-0 start after and the upcoming tilt with defending National Champion Indiana.

The watchers and listeners are encouraged to chime into the comments as they are happily a big part of the show. Pour your own cold one – or spiked coffee, we don’t judge – and hop aboards!
