Five Reason Nebraska Will Win: Maryland
EAST LANSING, MI – SEPTEMBER 26: Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Anthony Colandrea (10) throws the ball on the run during a college football game between the Michigan State Spartans and Nebraska Cornhuskers on September 26, 2026 at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, MI. The Nebraska Football team is 4-0 for the first time since 2016, which means I am 4-0 for the first time EVER! We are going to ride this streak all the way through November!

It’s October and if we can’t chug some mid-season Kool-Aid now, when can we?

Nebraska is going to bring another big W to Memorial Stadium and these are your reasons why:

#1 THE CALLS ARE GOING NEBRASKA’S WAY

Some people may think this is a weird reason to put in at all, let alone number one, but here me out. For the past decade or more Nebraska fans have grown accustom to every up in the air call or play going against us. Just when we think there is no way that a call could stand or that some freak play could actually count, it would.

Last week against Michigan State, Nebraska was getting the calls and the plays were going their way. There were two fumbles in the game, but we jumped on one and another went out of bounds. There were a few plays that had to be reviewed but the calls went Nebraska’s way. Just when the Huskers would lose momentum the Spartans would get a big penalty that would keep them in it and Nebraska would capitalize.

# 2 ANTHONY COLANDREA

Anthony Colandrea has shown time and time again why he was the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year in 2025. Every time the Huskers couldn’t get anything going last week, Colandrea came through with both his legs and his arm. The way he can scramble and the accuracy of his arm, especially in tight windows is great. When your quarterback is playing to win, the odds are in your favor.

#3 THE HUSKER DEFENSE

Nebraska’s defense was smothering against Michigan State. They tallied six sacks and forced three turnovers. Four games into the year the Husker defense is ranked 1st in the Big Ten and 5th in the nation in total defense, only allowing about 233 yards per game. They will face a Maryland offense that has averaged 431 yards per game and is 7th in the Big Ten in total offense.

This Nebraska defense looks to get better every game and while the Terrapins passing offense is sure to test them, the blackshirts are sure to shut down Marylands offesne.

#4 Kwazi Gilmer

It has become obvious that Kwazi Gilmer is a favorite target of Anthony Colandrea. It’s for good reason too, Gilmer had some amazing catches last week against the Spartans. He has been coming up big time when the Huskers need him and I expect that to continue on Saturday.

Jacory Barney Jr and Quinn Clark will also contribute to the offense, but right now Gilmer is the hot hand.

#5 THE HUSKER RUSH GAME

I like the match up between the Huskers running backs and Maryland’s rush defense. Last week was not the best week for the Husker running backs, and Jamal Rule was banged up, however this week will be different. I think Rule and Co. will be able to get into the Maryland backfield and make a big impact in this game.

Let’s go for 5-0!

GOOOO BIIIGGG REEDDDDDD!!
