The Texas Longhorns are making a concerted effort to recruit the safety position in the 2028 cycle. Earlier this week, they extended an offer to four-star prospect Antwaun Adams out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. They have added another blue-chip recruit to their search.

This one is an in-state recruit. The Longhorns have now offered four-star Savion James out of Summer Creek High School in Houston, Texas.

"After a great conversation with @Coach_Gideon Im excited to announce Ive been offered by Texas 🤘," James announced on social media.

James is the No. 284 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 23 safety. In the state of Texas, he's listed as the No. 36 player.

With over 20 offers on the table, Texas has some strong competition for James. Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Auburn, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, and Houston are some of the other programs that have offered the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder.

The next step for the Longhorns is to get James on campus for a visit, and preferably it will be sometime before the season is over.
