Texas Tech vs Colorado Prediction: Is This When The Buffaloes Turn This Around?

NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...

Just when it seemed like Colorado was over the issues in a clunker of a 2025 finishing kick, the 14-13 win over Georgia Tech doesn’t seem like anything big now, the 41-7 loss to Northwestern wasn’t even close, and last week’s Big 12-opening loss to Baylor was a setback.

Here’s the positive. If Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes are able to turn this all around, they can do it fast by beating the defending Big 12 champs.

Texas Tech has hardly been amazing, but it got the job done against Houston in a 28-26 fight, and 4-0 is 4-0. On primetime national TV vs Coach Prime, this is its shot to show the country that everything is still humming.

Why Texas Tech Will Win

It’s the Achilles heel of the Colorado program under Sanders – the offensive line can’t keep anyone from getting to the quarterback. The skill parts are strong, but there are way too many sacks allowed, the running game isn’t consistent, and Texas Tech should pounce.

This isn’t the Red Raider pass rush of last year with David Bailey off with the New York Jets, but it’s not bad. The run defense should be a rock – Houston is the only team able to get past 75 yards against it – and the takeaways should come. The Buffaloes have given the ball away seven times in the last three games, but …

Why Colorado Will Win

Texas Tech has been a giveaway machine over the last two weeks, turning it over four times against Sam Houston and twice against Houston – quarterback Will Hammond is throwing picks.

Colorado gives up too many yards, but the defensive front is getting into the backfield. The run defense has been holding up well enough to get the job done. Getting to Hammond early is a must, and keeping control of the clock is even bigger. The time of possession battle is no big whoop to the Red Raiders, and the Buffaloes have to use that. They must own the tempo.

Texas Tech vs Colorado Prediction, Betting Lines

Colorado will ball out for the first half. Quarterback Julian Lewis will be crisp on a few scoring drives, and Texas Tech will know it’s in for a fight. But the second half will be all Red Raiders.

The Texas Tech defensive front will take over, the Buffalo drives will stall, and it’ll be a solid win in front of a big audience.
