GAME 5: Saturday, October 3, 2026
Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0, 2-0) vs Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-0, 2-0)
Starkville, MS ~ 11am/noon ABC
- Coach: Jeff Lebby (11-18, SEC 3-15 in his 3rd season as a head coach)
- Injuries: Alabama WR Ryan Williams was spotted warming up in knee brace this morning. Not sure what that is about. Alabama right tackle Jayvin James is out. Tyrell Miller is expected to get the start. Reserve DB Zavier Mincey is a game-time decision. MSU defensive lineman Trevion Williams is out after being carted off the field during the win at South Carolina on Sept. 19. Linebacker Zakari Tillman is out after listed as questionable earlier in the week. Starting safety Isaac Smith and starting running back Fluff Bothwell were both banged up but are expected to play.
- Editorial: As the season goes on, the competition is getting tougher for the Tide. The Bulldogs are a surprise ranked team this week, but they should not be a surprise. Kamario Taylor is a star in the making. He has a trio of talented receivers (Anthony Evans, Sanfrisco Magee, Marquis Johnson) to throw to that will challenge the Bama secondary. But Alabama has a high-powered offense too and MSU’s secondary has been a little sketchy this season. This is the second road game of the season for the Crimson Tide. StarkVegas will be a bit more hostile than Lexington, KY was thanks to the clanga-clang artificial noise that is allowed for some reason.
- Weather: The early forecast reports for today were calling for doom and gloom in Starkville. However, the chance of thunderstorms has dissipated to basically nothing. A high around 84° is still expected with cloudy skies.
- TV AnnouncersEncore: Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy with Katie George on the sidelines.
- Radio: Chris Stewart and Tyler Watts on Alabama Radio.
- Vegas: The FanDuel point spread is up to Alabama being a 5.5 point favorite. Over/Under is now 60.5.
