Vanderbilt quarterback Jared Curtis was ruled out of the Commodores’ Week 5 clash against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Athens. The freshman quarterback was considered a game-time decision but was ultimately ruled out against the Bulldogs with an undisclosed injury.
College football fans on X mocked the Commodores quarterback for missing the high-profile SEC matchup.

Curtis committed to Georgia twice in high school, but he flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt in 2025. He was a five-star talent and the No. 1 quarterback and No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2026. Curtis became the highest-ranked recruit in Vanderbilt history and took on the unenviable task of replacing program legend Diego Pavia.
One fan accused Curtis of ducking the Bulldogs’ defense.
“Bro got scared of that Georgia defense after watching film,” the fan wrote.
Another fan slammed Curtis for missing the top-billed game against Georgia.
“Dude commit to Vandy and running from the smoke LMBO! Dude scared of that Georgia defense. Dude a sissy!” The fan posted.
One fan blasted the freshman quarterback for missing Vandy’s biggest game of the season so far.
“Ducking Georgia is shameless man. My god that’s pathetic,” the fan remarked.
Another fan theorized that Curtis was protecting his transfer stock from a bad game against a powerhouse team.

“Gotta make sure that when he transfers, he only has his average at best tape…can’t have the truly horrendous stuff out there like this game,’ the fan concluded.
One fan suggested that the Commodores were protecting their freshman quarterback.
“Vandy protecting their lil Investment,”the fan opined.
A Georgia fan reminisced about the quarterback flipping his commitment from Georgia to Vandy.
“That’s a shame. We were all looking forward to the Dawg Defense reminding him of his last-minute betrayal of Georgia,” the fan wrote.
Curtis has amassed 746 passing yards on 64.3% completion, 4 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions, adding 133 rushing yards and 2 scores for the Commodores this season, earning a PFN’s CFB Quarterback Impact score of 78.1 (No. 63 in the CFB).
