Tennessee defeats Auburn for first SEC football win

No. 17 Tennessee (4-1, 1-1 SEC) defeated Auburn (3-2, 1-2 SEC), 24-14, on Saturday in Week 5 at Neyland Stadium. The win is the Vols' first in Southeastern Conference play in 2026.

101,915 were in attendance.

DeSean Bishop totaled 220 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 34 attempts. His longest rushing attempt was 44 yards.

Quarterback Faizon Brandon started for the Vols and completed 3-of-8 passing attempts for zero yards and one interception. George MacIntyre replaced Brandon and completed 8-of-10 passing attempts for 86 yards.

Mike Matthews led Tennessee with four receptions for 57 yards.

Tennessee totaled 323 yards (237 rushing, 86 passing) against the Tigers. Auburn finished the contest with 345 yards (186 rushing, 159 passing).

Defensive backs Dejuan Lane and Tevis Metcalf recorded one interception each for Tennessee.

The Vols will next play at Arkansas on Oct. 10 in Week 6.
