Houston is about to go on a heater as the Coogs add more talent to their 2027 recruiting haul between now and the Early Signing Period.

Willie Fritz and the staff added a colossal piece on Saturday night. After hosting three-star athlete Jason Wooden, the Coogs flipped the in-state prospect away from Big 12 rival Iowa State.

Wooden is on an official visit to Houston this weekend and is loving the time on campus.

“I loved the game-day environment and the energy,” Wooden told Rivals. “I love how bought in the coaching staff is. I’m loving it so far. Houston is a big contender and l love the culture of the team.”

Wooden previously committed to Iowa State as a linebacker. The Coogs are recruiting the 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect from McKinney (Texas) Frisco Emerson as a wide receiver.

Wooden is ranked as the No. 134 LB in the 2027 class and the No. 214 overall prospect in the state for this cycle.
