Ohio State Buckeyes superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith had another dazzling performance on Saturday afternoon, and he certainly let the Heisman Trophy voters know about it.

Not only did Smith strike the Heisman pose after a touchdown on Saturday, but he also declared himself the best player in the country during his postgame press conference.

Smith Strikes a Pose

During the third quarter of Saturday’s win over the No. 14 Iowa Hawkeyes, Smith pulled away from Iowa’s Anthony Hawkins for a 57-yard touchdown to extend Ohio State’s lead.

To celebrate, Smith hit a quick pose that sent a clear message.

There was good reason for the pose. Smith entered the game as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner, and he only solidified that claim on Saturday, finishing with 11 receptions for 206 yards and two touchdowns. This comes just a week after Smith had 12 receptions for 217 yards and four touchdowns.

This season, Smith has 44 catches for 823 yards and seven touchdowns in just five games.

‘I’m the best player in the country’

After the game, Smith sent a verbal message to Heisman Voters, too.

“You’ve just got to [let] the Heisman voters or whoever it is know that I’m the best player in the country,” Smith said after the game via ESPN. “I’ve got to be there.”

Smith also had a message to the fans who came out to support him and the team in Iowa as he signed autographs and took photos with fans.

“I love the fans,” he said. “They’re why I play this game. … They spend their hard-earned money to go come watch us play, so it’s only right that this team gives their all, and I give my all.”
