Missouri delivered one of the biggest statements of the college football season on Saturday, crushing No. 8 Florida 45-17 at Faurot Field.

The No. 25 Tigers turned a competitive game into a blowout, scoring 35 unanswered points after the game was tied at 10-10 in the second quarter. The win snapped Missouri’s nine-game losing streak against ranked opponents and handed first-year Florida head coach Jon Sumrall his first loss with the Gators.

Richard Johnson Says Missouri Exposed Florida

College football reporter and analyst Richard Johnson did not hold back when assessing the result. He praised Missouri for dominating the game in the trenches while questioning Florida’s status as a top-10 team.

“That’s why Missouri’s ranked. Missouri ran over, around, and through Florida today. They made Florida look fraudulent,” Johnson said.

He also praised Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons, who delivered one of his best performances of the season.

“I thought Austin Simmons was incredible today; the guy could not miss, incredible ball placement, and they really exposed some things with Florida on the back end on defense,” Johnson added.

Missouri controlled the game on both sides of the ball, finishing with 560 total yards compared to Florida’s 325.

Jamal Roberts Leads Missouri’s Offensive Explosion

The Tigers’ offense produced its most impressive performance of the season, with several players putting together big games.

Running back Jamal Roberts was the biggest difference-maker. He rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries.

Simmons, who has an 85.3 Rating in PFN’s QB Impact Metric, ranking 19th among quarterbacks, also had a standout afternoon. The quarterback completed 23 of 30 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns, finishing without a turnover while consistently finding open receivers downfield.

Cayden Lee was his favorite target, catching eight passes for 110 yards and making several important plays on third down.

Missouri Defense Shuts Down Florida’s Run Game

While Missouri’s offense received plenty of attention, the Tigers’ defense was just as impressive.

Florida entered the matchup with one of the SEC’s most productive rushing attacks, but Missouri completely shut it down. Jadan Baugh, the conference’s leading rusher entering the game, managed only 13 yards on 12 carries.

Florida finished with just 42 rushing yards as the Tigers consistently won the battle at the line of scrimmage.

Quarterback Aaron Philo was also under pressure throughout the afternoon. Missouri recorded three sacks and made it difficult for Florida to establish any rhythm offensively.

The victory moves Missouri to 4-1 and gives the Tigers a major boost heading into another major test against Texas A&M at home next week.
