Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers were looking for a statement win on Homecoming, and boy, did they get it. A 45-17 victory over previous No. 8 Florida gave Mizzou their first win over a Top 10 team at home since joining the SEC.

Mizzou (4-1, 1-1 SEC) moved up to No. 14 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Let’s get to the MV3 after what could be a season-changing win.

1. Austin Simmons

Simmons continues to impress. I wrote in last week’s MV3 that his elite quarterback play would upset some ranked teams this year, and well, how about his performance on Homecoming Saturday?

23/30 for 340 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions will do. Simmons is off to an excellent start this season and is showing no signs of slowing down. From the five takeaways:

Mizzou’s passing game has been dangerous all year. It went to another level against Florida.

Eli Drinkwitz has found himself a star quarterback.

2. Jamal Roberts

Jadan Baugh (and deservingly so) came into Saturday’s game as the best running back in the SEC, but it was Roberts who looked the part of a first team-All SEC RB as he posted ridiculous numbers on the stat sheet. On 24 carries, Roberts had 211 yards and three touchdowns.

It was a workmanlike performance that was rewarded with a game-breaking box score by the time the final whistle blew

His first TD of the game gave Mizzou a three-score cushion early in the second half.

3. Kensley Louidor-Faustin

How about KLF? The Auburn transfer performed at a high-level on the defensive side of the ball Saturday — contributing for five total tackles t0 go along with 3.5 TFLs. The junior safety had his best game in a Mizzou uniform so far and has been a nice fit in Corey Batoon’s defense.
