Tait Reynolds is asking for patience with Clemson’s offense. After another game in which the Tigers struggled to turn possessions into points, the freshman quarterback remains convinced a breakthrough is coming.

That confidence faces a tougher sell following Saturday’s 41-13 home loss to No. 4 Miami. Clemson received its most productive passing performance yet from Reynolds, but the result reinforced how much work remains before the offense can consistently deliver.

Reynolds completed 29 of 44 attempts for 295 yards. His production gave the Tigers opportunities to put pressure on the Hurricanes, only for promising possessions to stall. With the outcome still undecided, the Tigers managed three points across two drives that reached Miami’s red zone.

Clemson also paid for mistakes by its young quarterback. Miami converted a third-quarter Reynolds fumble into a field goal and returned his final pass for a touchdown, adding to a margin he felt did not accurately reflect the Tigers’ performance.

Reynolds’ outlook afterward centered on his belief in the players and coaches around him. He sees an offense that has improved since the beginning of the season and believes more consistent execution will allow that progress to become visible.

The challenge for Clemson is that the same issues continue to limit its scoring. More passing yards provide encouragement, but empty possessions and giveaways leave little room to compete with an opponent like Miami.

The Tigers will spend their bye week trying to close that gap between potential and production before Charleston Southern visits Memorial Stadium on Oct. 17.
