Tuesday ‘Dawg Bites Isn’t Anxious… Yet

Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! And it’s week 6… the halfway point of the regular season. At this juncture, I believe we all thought we’d know exactly where the 2026 Georgia team stood in the national conversation, because the team would have faced 2 lower division opponents, a rebuilding SEC team, an SEC team that was on the cusp of the playoffs last season, and a CFP participant. Instead, we’re still wondering a bit, as the conference competition has been… less than expected. Plus we’ve been treated to consecutive weeks where the defense carried the game, or the offense bore the heavy lifting, but neither seemed on their game for the same 4 quarters.

Of course Head Coach Kirby Smart was typically effusive in his praise of these SEC foes, and again Monday afternoon at his weekly press conference where he complemented the Vanderbilt defense. The rest of the press conference was benign, in that he didn’t bite any reporters head off. He did speak to the need of fast linebackers in today’s game, not being tied to either HS or the portal but utilizing both to fill team needs, and said wideout Thomas Blackshear has an upper body injury. You can read that and a little more about the injury report over at Dawgnation.

Kane Wommack, Alabama Defensive Coordinator and noted cloud enthusiast, was quoted this week as saying “Mike Bobo is one of the best play callers I’ve ever gone against.” (The only link I could find was from Zuckerburg, and I ain’t linking to that, sorry.) And I agree, as along as he has a quarterback on the same sheet of music as the receivers.

While Georgia faces the toughest test of the season on the road Saturday, Auburn once again gets favorable treatment from the SEC offices. Somehow they were able to pay sweettalk their way into an off week before the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry next week, and the SoCon Samford Bulldogs before they play the Iron Bowl.

But we do know hosting the Abuurn program will be televised from Sanford Stadium, and kickoff will be 3:30 pm ET. The network it magically appears on will be decided after this weekend’s game, but it is either ABC, ESPN, or SEC Network.

Speaking of annoying things on television, you’re probably aware that ESPN’s GameDay will be on site in Tuscaloosa for this top 10 tilt. You might also be aware that the president will be in attendance. So if you’re going to make the trip and attend, expect delays in entering the stadium and much tighter security. And I swear this isn’t political, but having those inconveniences put on 100,000 people just for another fan seems sub-optimal. But maybe he will be more of a presence than just a fan?

We’ve got plenty of time to worry about facing Georgia’s nemesis on foreign soil, so keep your gap discipline, control what you can control, keep choppin’, and as always…

GO ‘DAWGS!!!
