Penn State will follow up this weekend's home whiteout game against USC with a challenging road trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to face the Michigan Wolverines in Week 7. The matchup between Penn State and Michigan will feature two teams that have struggled with their offense in recent weeks and have dropped their first two Big Ten games of the year, so the stakes may be high in a different way when they meet next week. We now know what time the game will be played.
The Big Ten announced the kickoff times for its Week 7 slate on Monday. Penn State's road game at Michigan was given a 3:30 p.m. time slot, although the Big Ten has not announced which network the game will air on at this point. The 3:30 p.m. time slot would seem to suggest the game is airing on CBS, but there are two other games on the Big Ten slate with no confirmed kickoff time or TV network yet. The results of this week's games may impact the final decisions in the broadcast schedule.

The Big Ten games still up for grabs in addition to Penn State vs. Michigan, are the Oregon vs. Nebraska game and the UCLA vs. Wisconsin game. All four teams are off to strong starts in Big Ten play, and each could be a matchup of unbeaten teams in Big Ten play. By default, that should make those games more attractive for a game of the week spotlight on CBS.
Odds are pretty good CBS was hoping Penn State and Michigan would be off to better starts this season, but both teams have struggled in conference play and are going through some concerns with their respective offenses. Penn State blew a 17-0 lead at home to Wisconsin in a stunning loss two weeks ago and followed that up by getting embarrassed by Northwestern and the Wildcats' running game. Michigan's season has been disappointing as well, with back-to-back Big Ten losses to Iowa and Minnesota, and many treating the season opener as a loss to Western Michigan despite the controversial ending. Michigan has scored 20 points in a game just once so far this season.
If CBS does not pick up the Penn State-Michigan game, then it could be heading to Big Ten Network or FS1. FOX has Big Ten games at noon (Ohio State at Indiana) and in primetime (Washington at Purdue) but has a Big 12 game locked in for the mid-afternoon slot with Arizona State–Texas Tech. So FOX is out as an option. NBC has a primetime deal with the Big Ten, so the network will be getting either Nebraska at Oregon or Wisconsin at UCLA. That leaves Big Ten Network, FS1, and CBS as the options for Penn State and Michigan.
