A record-setting receiver still owns the top spot, but the biggest Week 6 college fantasy football decisions come in the backfield. North Texas’ Jahiem White rises to RB1, and Virginia Tech’s Jeffrey Overton Jr. makes one of the week’s biggest jumps.

Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith remains the clear FLEX1 after another 200-yard game. Meanwhile, Kewan Lacy’s expected return comes with a workload warning, and Notre Dame’s top-ranked fantasy defense has two important injury questions.

Week 6 FLEX rankings outlook

Smith makes the strongest case for leaving a star locked into your lineup regardless of the opponent. He caught 11 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns against Iowa, giving him consecutive 200-yard games and Ohio State’s career records for catches and touchdown receptions.

Ryan Day offered a useful explanation after Julian Sayin found Smith in triple coverage: “That was not a great read, but a ridiculous throw and ridiculous catch.”

That trust matters. Smith can produce even when the defense wins the coverage matchup, and Maryland allows 37.8 points per game.

White follows at FLEX2, ahead of Illinois receiver Collin Dixon. Overton and Utah’s Wayshawn Parker round out the top five, giving running backs three of the first five spots.

QB rankings outlook

West Virginia’s Michael Hawkins Jr. takes QB1 because his rushing role gives him another way to carry a fantasy lineup. He ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns at Iowa State, bringing his rushing touchdown total to 11.

Arizona allows only 100.5 rushing yards per game, so this ranking carries some matchup risk. Still, Hawkins’ scoring role and a Mountaineers defense struggling to get stops make him difficult to fade.

“All we needed was a stop,” Rich Rodriguez said after the 45-42 loss. “It’s just hard to watch.”

That defensive trouble also helps Arizona’s Noah Fifita at QB6. West Virginia allows 317.8 passing yards per game, giving Fifita a strong chance to keep both offenses working deep into the game.

Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss is QB2 at Vanderbilt. Florida State’s Ashton Daniels follows at QB3 after rushing for 136 yards against Virginia. Louisville’s 289.0 passing yards allowed per game gives Daniels another path to a big Friday night.

RB rankings outlook

White’s move from RB6 to RB1 starts with workload. He handled 32 carries for 219 yards and a touchdown against Tulsa while Brendon Haygood remained sidelined.

Haygood’s status still needs watching, but Charlotte allows 40.0 points per game. White can lead your lineup without matching last week’s 32 carries if North Texas keeps giving him chances near the goal line.

Overton jumps from RB27 to RB2 despite rushing for only 46 yards against Pitt. His 17 carries and five catches show why that result should not scare managers away. Cal allows 206.3 rushing yards per game, a major change from Pitt’s 61.8.

Parker ranks third, followed by Missouri’s Jamal Roberts and Duke’s Nate Sheppard. Sheppard gets Georgia Tech’s vulnerable run defense, which allows 189.3 yards per game.

Be more cautious with Lacy at RB37. Ole Miss expects him back from a shoulder injury, but Pete Golding said he will work in a “constant rotation.” A return to the field does not yet guarantee the workload fantasy managers want.

WR Rankings outlook

Dixon climbs from WR5 to WR2 because his role held up even when Illinois stumbled. He caught 10 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Purdue, accounting for more than half of Katin Houser’s 225 passing yards.

Michigan State presents a tougher matchup, allowing 181.0 passing yards per game. Dixon’s share of the offense keeps him near the top anyway.

Oregon State’s Jesse Legree rises from WR13 to WR8 after his fifth straight 100-yard game. His three touchdowns against Colorado State brought him to nine this season. San Diego State allows 263.3 passing yards per game, giving managers little reason to pass on that run.

Carlos Hernandez holds WR3 against NC State. Wake Forest’s productive passing offense and the Wolfpack’s 250.8 passing yards allowed make him another strong weekly starter.

TE rankings outlook

Luke Reynolds stays at TE1 because his catches give him value even without a touchdown. He drew eight targets and caught seven passes for 93 yards against Pitt. That is the involvement managers should trust entering Virginia Tech’s trip to Cal.

Houston’s Patrick Overmyer moves from TE4 to TE2 after catching six passes for 76 yards against UCF. Kansas State allows just 131.7 passing yards per game, so the matchup limits his upside, but his steady role keeps him ahead of most touchdown-dependent options.

Memphis’ Hunter Tipton is TE3. Oregon State’s Eric Olsen rises from TE11 to TE6, offering another way to invest in the Beavers’ passing offense against San Diego State.

Team offense outlook

Ohio State takes the top spot because Maryland must deal with far more than Smith’s individual production. The Buckeyes average 514.6 yards per game, and the Terrapins allow 37.8 points. Even if Ohio State builds an early lead, the matchup supports scoring through the air and on the ground.

UCLA ranks second at Oregon, with Florida third against South Carolina. The Gators’ 45-17 loss to Missouri deserves attention, but it does not erase their scoring potential against a defense allowing 31.3 points per game.

Florida’s response to that loss is a major Week 6 storyline. Its fantasy offense still belongs near the top.

Team defense outlook

Notre Dame moves to No. 1 against Stanford, but check the injury report before locking it in. Cornerback Leonard Moore is questionable with a concussion, and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is questionable with a thumb injury.

Those concerns reduce the margin for error, but Stanford averages just 17.4 points per game. The Irish allow 58.4 rushing yards per game, giving them a strong chance to make the Cardinal rely on its passing game.

Duke ranks second, ahead of Texas and Ohio State. The Blue Devils allow only 12.3 points per game and face a Georgia Tech offense averaging 21.3. Duke visits Georgia Tech on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...

ET.
