Mike Gundy is returning to the Big 12 spotlight Saturday — just from a different seat.
The former Oklahoma State head coach is set to join TNT Sports and HBO Max as a guest studio analyst for Saturday's Big 12 matchup between Arizona and West Virginia, according to multiple reports.
Gundy will work from TNT's Atlanta studios during the network's pregame, halftime and postgame coverage.
The studio show begins at 10:30 a.m. CT, 30 minutes before Arizona and West Virginia kick off at 11 a.m. Gundy is expected to work alongside former NFL stars Champ Bailey and Takeo Spikes, with Jordan Cornette serving as host.
It will represent one of Gundy's most notable television appearances since his lengthy tenure at Oklahoma State came to an end.
Gundy spent more than two decades leading the Cowboys after taking over the program in 2005. He finished his Oklahoma State career with a 170-90 record, won the 2011 Big 12 championship and became the winningest coach in program history.
Now, he'll get an opportunity to analyze the conference he spent more than 20 years coaching in.
Gundy isn't completely unfamiliar with television. He has previously appeared as part of ESPN's Coaches Film Room coverage of the College Football Playoff National Championship, including last January.
Gundy also had other television opportunities earlier this season. ESPN reportedly offered him studio work in Bristol, while FOX approached him about working as a game analyst.
Gundy instead chose to remain largely out of the television spotlight and spend more time at home with his family. That changes Saturday.
His debut also comes during an interesting period for the Big 12, with several programs attempting to establish themselves in the conference race.
For Oklahoma State fans, however, much of the intrigue will simply come from seeing their former coach back on television discussing college football.
Whether Saturday's appearance develops into a larger broadcasting role remains to be seen.
Gundy certainly possesses the résumé and personality for television after spending decades as one of the most recognizable coaches in college football.
For at least one weekend, though, the former Cowboy coach is headed back to work. Only this time, the headset will be for television instead of the Oklahoma State sideline.
