The Georgia football program is just a few days away from kicking off arguably their toughest game of the season on the road vs the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs haven’t been tested much yet so far this year, but that’s likely to change on Saturday against an explosive Crimson Tide offensive attack.

Recently, college football media personality Josh Pate dropped a hot take in anticipation of the big matchup.

“It’s game of the year potential. It’s not the end of the world for the loser. I think the winner, you can pencil into the playoffs at this point,” said Pate, per the Rich Eisen Show, via ESPN College Football on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, winning this matchup would not only give either Alabama or Georgia a huge resume boost but also get them past arguably their toughest hurdle of the regular season, seemingly clearing the way for smooth sailing for the rest of the campaign.

Last year, the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs squared off twice, with Alabama ending Georgia’s home winning streak early in the season before the Bulldogs exacted revenge with a blowout win in the SEC Championship Game a few months later.

Both teams saw their respective seasons come to an unceremonious end in the quarterfinal round of the college football playoff.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Bulldogs respond if they find themselves in a close game against Alabama on Saturday, as Georgia has yet to find themselves up against any real adversity so far this season.

In any case, Alabama and Georgia are slated to kick things off on Saturday at 7:30 pm ET from Tuscaloosa.
