The Syracuse Orange football team is still looking for its first ACC win of the 2026 season. The Orange (2-2) did win their second overall game on the season this past weekend with a 42-41 overtime thriller against the UConn Huskies.

The Orange's victory was led by three strong individual offensive outputs: Quarterback Amari Odom started his first game of the season, throwing for more than 300 yards. He also combined for six total touchdowns, including five through the air. Running Back Tylik Hill ran for 140 yards and was named ACC Running Back of the Week.

Lastly, Umari Hatcher's big afternoon earned him ACC Wide Receiver of the Week.

The sixth-year wide receiver's most recent performance was the best so far in the 2026 season. Hatcher snagged 12 balls for 152 yards and three touchdowns in the team's win over UConn. The three touchdowns catches are the most by any Syracuse player since 2016. His biggest catch came on a 4th-and-goal in overtime, a touchdown that gave Syracuse a chance to win it on Odom's two-point conversion.

Hatcher, on Wednesday, also earned more recognition. He was named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List.

What is the Biletnikoff Award?

According to the award's website, The Biletnikoff Award recognizes "the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver, regardless of position. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, split end, inside receiver, slot back or running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award."

Past winners of the award have included some of the best college football and NFL players of all-time, including Hall of Famers Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.

The award finalists and overall winner will be announced in December.

Umari Hatcher's 2026 season so far

Through just four games, Hatcher has 29 catches for 434 yards and five touchdowns. All three of those numbers rank among the top 10 in the ACC and the top 25 in the country.

While Hatcher will face strong competition to win this award, his current pacing has him projected to finish among the best in the country in those respective caterogies.

What's next for Hatcher and his Orange teammates?

Hatcher will hope to match or even exceed his personal out from Saturday in this weekend's game when the Orange return to action. Head coach Fran Brown and his team will play an ACC game for the first time in nearly a month.

Syracuse will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday. The Orange are listed as a 9 1/2 point underdog by Draftkings. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
