After the Week 4 road loss to Mississippi State, some were ready to throw in the towel on the Missouri Tigers and their hopes of making a splash in the SEC in 2026.
Eli Drinkwitz and company came alive in Week 5, however. The Tigers marched to a 45-17 win against No. 8 Florida, holding Heisman hopeful running back Jadan Baugh to just 13 rushing yards on 12 carries. Needless to say, Missouri staked its claim as one of the conference's most dangerous teams entering the sixth Saturday of college football.
Here is a full preview of what Texas A&M will face when they travel to Columbia to face the No. 14 Tigers on Saturday:
Missouri offense
Three players to watch: Austin Simmons (QB), Jamal Roberts (RB) and Donovan Olugbode (WR)
Tale of the tape: Between Simmons' elite accuracy and Roberts wreaking havoc on the ground, Missouri boasts one of the SEC's most prolific offenses. The Tigers recorded 560 total yards against the Gators in Week 5, marking Mizzou's fourth 400-plus yard performance. Simmons is the only starting quarterback in the conference with no interceptions, while ranking third with 1,287 passing yards and second with 13 touchdowns.
Missouri touts the No. 5 passing offense in the SEC, but its rushing attack has also hit its stride massively. Roberts notched a career-high 211 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries in the 45-17 homecoming win over Florida.
Texas A&M's defense has struggled against explosive plays, allowing a league-high 5.79 yards per play and 16 pass plays of 20 yards or more, the fifth-most in the conference. To slow this high-paced offense, the Aggies must apply pressure on Simmons and keep Roberts from wreaking havoc on the ground.
Missouri defense
Three players to watch: Daeden Hopkins (EDGE), Donta Simpson (DT) and Nicholas Rodriguez (LB)
Tale of the tape: The Tigers shut down Heisman-contending running back Jadan Baugh, holding him to just 13 yards on 12 carries, planting their flag as one of the conference's top rush defenses.
Missouri has struggled to stop the pass, however, tied at No. 11 with South Carolina, allowing 231.2 passing yards per contest. In the last three contests, including against Troy, opposing offenses have thrown for 200 yards or more.
If there is a kink in the Tigers' armor, it is in the secondary, but the Aggies have struggled to succeed throwing the football. Junior quarterback Marcel Reed has looked wildly inconsistent, completing just 57% of his passes and four interceptions through the first five weeks.
