A starter on Nebraska’s offense is now a semifinalist for college football’s premier scholar-athlete award. Tight end Luke Lindenmeyer was named a semifinalist for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy.
The Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Only seniors, graduate students, or graduate transfers who maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher and are participating in the 2026 season are eligible.
Candidates must also have outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. Lindenmeyer is one of the 206 candidates from the FBS and FCS levels, as schools can nominate one student-athlete annually.
He is in his fifth season with the Huskers and has made 44 appearances, including 25 starts. This season, Lindenmeyer has 12 catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.
The tight end has also helped the team with his blocking. Nebraska ranks 17th nationally in rushing offense and 24th in the nation in total offense through five games.
Off the field, Lindenmeyer has been active in Nebraska’s Life Skills program and is a four-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team recipient. He was one of 27 student-athletes across all of Nebraska’s athletic programs to receive the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award in 2024. He is also a three-time academic All-Big Ten pick and 2026 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
The National Football Foundation (NFF) will announce 12-16 finalists on Oct. 21. The Campbell Trophy winner will then be announced in Las Vegas on Dec. 8.
