Nov. 3—MITCHELL — A pair of Dakota Wesleyan University football standouts were recognized as Great Plains Athletic Conference players of the week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Quarterback Connor Drake got the nod for GPAC offensive player of the week, while defensive lineman Cody Winslow was named GPAC defensive player of the week for their efforts in DWU's 44-41 overtime road win over rival Mount Marty on Saturday.

For the second week in a row, the Tigers had a quarterback take down the offensive honor, but it was a new face this time around. Drake, a redshirt junior from Maryville, Missouri, started in place Jed Jenson, who was sidelined Saturday due to injury. Jenson was coming off of a five-touchdown effort in DWU's Blue and White Days win over Waldorf on Oct. 25.

In Jenson's stead, Drake went 26-for-39 for 402 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. His final pass of the afternoon went for a 25-yard game-winning touchdown to Steven Christion in overtime. Prior to Saturday, Drake had attempted just eight passes during the entire 2025 season.

Meanwhile, Winslow, a redshirt junior from Hillsdale, Wyoming, came away with seven total tackles, including 3 1/2 for loss with 2 1/2 sacks. On one of his sacks, Winslow forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown by Weston Wollberg. Winslow also blocked an extra point attempt. On the season, Winslow has 31 tackles with 7 1/2 for loss and 4 1/2 sacks.

Drake and Winslow are the second and third Tigers to earn weekly honors this season, joining Jenson.

DWU returns to Joe Quintal Field for the first of back-to-back home games to close the season, first hosting Midland on Nov. 8.
